This converted WW2 Handley Page Halifax bomber was returning from a meteorological survey in the Atlantic when it struck the land in poor weather.

RAF RG843 wreck site from June 1950 on Croaghaun Mountain, Achill, Co. Mayo.

A rock painted white by the families of the 8 crew lost in the crash marks the spot where the converted WW2 bomber's 4 Bristol Hercules radial engines now remain.
