Having grown up nearby, I’m amused by Twitter’s discovery that Plymouth Rock is so underwhelming. I have always found it the most perplexing monument. Now think - could it be that other parts of Pilgrim lore are mythologized?

As a geologist I can tell you that it’s a small boulder the size of an smaller boulder. Also, its geologic history is a lot more interesting than any of its cultural significance.
