When I speak of white privilege I’m speaking of moments that make no sense....for example “The storming of the capital” ....if they were black they would have been killed on the spot....
No other high income country turns on the news Saturday morning to hear how many were killed in mass shootings the night before.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Whether it's the unearthed remains of indigenous children at a boarding school, or finally a visit to Tulsa by a president 100 years later, one thing is clear: We cannot move forward until we acknowledge the atrocities of the past. We must teach true history, however painful.
It's odd to me, as a survivor of American internment camps, how people somehow believe this country is immune from the allure and the danger of fascism.
Everyone on the floor of my hotel has seemingly ordered pungent food from different continents and the hallway scent can best be described as “Loud Pork Sauna.”
Teenage boys must feel so attacked by every commercial for household products, food items, air fresheners, cleaning solutions etc centering around them being insane and disgusting. Every commercial is like “my teen son is a vile maniac caked in shit, luckily there’s febreze”
@smailmail124@arneduncan When “struggling” white kids interact with the police, we don’t hear about how their parents/community/village failed them because police officers don’t kill them. Thus, they’re allowed to see another day and get another chance.
I want to know why cops are pulling black motorists over because of expired plates and hanging air fresheners. Why are they even using tasers let alone guns in these situations?
Other countries do not have school shootings and it’s not because they have bulletproof backpacks and police officers in every school.
It’s because they prioritize the protection of their children and fellow citizens over someone’s “freedom” to kill other people
