K-5 Teacher Librarian and mom of 2 readers. Passionate about reading and learning about the world around me. Stories connect us and stories transform our lives.
There is an adage: Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.
I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time. For the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But, America, if it is: Let us fill the sky with the light of a billion brilliant stars.
We had a fantastic author visit with @vscottmiller this morning! She shared some of the artists that inspired the characters in her new book, Miss Edmonia’s Class of Wildfires!
@MrSchuReads You too!!! I stupidly wasn’t going to buy any books today and by the time I changed my mind, Louder Than Hunger was already gone. 🤦♀️ I’m hoping to make it to the Naperville event though, trying to arrange a sitter!
As always, I had a blast at @AndersonsBkshp Children’s Lit Breakfast today! So inspiring to hear from Kate DiCamillo as well as mingle with other authors and book lovers!
EDUCATORS and LIBRARIANS! These Middle Grade and Young Adult novels and graphic novels need a new home. Want them? To enter to win them: follow me and like/retweet this tweet. Bonus entry: tag a pal who you think might want these books, too!
One of the reasons we love #WorldReadAloudDay so much is to discover authors and books that are new to us, as well as “old favorites!” Today, different classes met @DebbieDadey, Nadine Fonseca, @melanieells, @davidakelly, & @AMStephens_ ! So amazing and fun! #WRAD2024#WRAD
For WRAD this Wed, I’ll be reading the first chapter of FINALLY HEARD, my new middle grade novel for kids on the dangers of social media, exclusively on my YouTube channel! 👀❤️📚 Hear the hysterical events that set off Lina’s quest for a phone and her subsequent emotional, heart wrenching journey trying to break free from the likes on social media! 📱#FinallyHeard #WRAD #ReadAloud #FinallySeen #SocialMedia #Kids @simonkids
We’re calling this week “authorpalooza!” Every class that comes to the library has been Zooming with amazing authors for #WorldReadAloudDay! Thanks, @laurenmagaziner, @TPhillipsWriter, @nchurnin, @michaelleali, @suma_v_s, & @_ACoops_ ! More to come the rest of the week! #wrad
We had a FANTASTIC author presentation with Erin Soderberg Downing today! Thank you @erindowning! The students and I can’t wait to dive into Just Keep Walking! Thanks @AndersonsBkshp for supplying us with books!
A class of 5th graders has fun in the library today with the CodeJoy Live class, Robot Aerobics! So cool! They could put in code to program the robots! Thanks, @CodeJoyEdu, @microbit_edu, & @birdbraintech!
Some of the Seesaw Library Hour of Code activities are my new favorite Seesaw activities! Last week we did Tomika Welcomes You to the Code Crew and this week we are trying Robot Uses an Algorithm to Build a Tower with first graders! @seesaw @seesawlearning https://t.co/XvV1TbPELH
