Teachers are struggling on what to do right now, districts are sending multiple emails every day that change the plan and expectation for teachers. These amazing people are working through the same frustrations as everyone else in the world while worrying and 2/3
Enough with the pictures of teachers going over to kids' houses and teaching through screen doors or in driveways. Teachers are not superhuman; teachers are people, and sharing those kinds of images makes people think that should be normal. It's not. 1/3
I wasn’t a reader as a kid in part because my local library was ALWAYS closed. No school librarians either. Every DCPS student deserves a well stocked school library and a full time certified school librarian. #DCPSNeedsLibrarians#DCPSSchoolLibraries#tlchat#DCPSProgressPride
It was so fun to disburse these! I can't wait to begin hearing the buzz from students. Also, @evonnagy deserves every mention and kudo for being an amazing school librarian!
This is the worst pic of me. But it's honest. Being a teacher is HARD. Sometimes it's working your butt off for something you care about and then crying in your office because that thing is an epic disaster. Sometimes it's good stuff, though. I'll try again tomorrow. #BadDay
"Many of them cite time constraints, unsupportive school leaders, and stressed teachers as impediments to regular instruction with students." 👏👏👏 If I can work with teachers, I can help teach students what they need to know. #flexibleschedule
I just told our six-year old about interlibrary loan.
Daughter: They’ll get you ANY book? Even if it’s ten miles away?
Dad: Even if it’s a thousand miles away!
Daughter: Librarians must be magic.
Dad: They have to be. They work with books.
