BRINGING BOOKS TO LIFE 📚✨
Today is National School Librarian Day, and April is School Library Month.
We are so fortunate to have amazing media specialists working with our students every day, to help build a passion for learning and literacy. From hands-on activities, to Battle of the Books, dress up days, and more, these dedicated educators make the media center the heart of our schools. Thank YOU for helping our students foster a love for reading that lasts a lifetime. 📖
Yesterday’s PDD was exactly the spark we needed. We spent the morning diving deep into the power of Poetry✍️ and the afternoon mastering the mindset of Entrepreneurship 💡. We’re officially recharged and ready for the rest of the school year with our students! @SSunshne@NoRowEdu
Congrats to our 2026 Battle of the Books Grand Champions! 📚🏆

Reading is the ultimate superpower 🦸♂️📚
Superintendent Mike Burke joined school and community leaders across the School District of Palm Beach County to participate in Read for the Record Day, a nationwide early literacy initiative that features everyone reading the same book on the same day. Mr. Burke visited students at Poinciana STEM Elementary School to share a passion for reading in the classroom.
It’s a double celebration today, as we also recognize Read Across America Day! It's a time to foster a love for literacy and discover the power that comes with early reading skills. What will you read today?
Our Media Centers are the hub of a school for reading, learning, and creativity. It should not be turned into a testing center. The student is right “it is sad”.
My room is used for state mandated testing. Everything gets pushed around to make room for tables, testing partitions and chairs.
A kid walked in this morning and moaned, “This makes me sad. They push all the goodness into a corner to make room for badness.”
He is not wrong.
So proud to celebrate EMA winners Jennifer Galindo (Polo Park Middle) - 2025 Outstanding Principal and Cathy West (Wellington Elementary) - 2025 Outstanding Elementary Media Service Award! #LoveMyLibraryPBCSD@NoRowEdu@ssunshne
Congratulations to our student filmmakers whose short film, “Baby Bee’s Adventure,” won at the Palm Beach County School District’s Jim Harbin Festival under the guidance of their mentor, Allamanda Elementary media specialist Ms. McComas! #LoveMyLibraryPBCSD@ssunshne@NoRowEdu
