The next one is another favorite of mine as an interpreter w/ Turkish in their language combination: simultaneous between languages w/ inverse structure. I'd like to share w/ you 3 graphs that show a sentence translated from French, German & Turkish into English:
As I had to miss the seminar on Remote Simultaneous Interpreting, I particularly appreciate reading this clear recap. We should be informed of changes to the profession, and how we can ensure our work in the future is comfortable and of high quality. Thank you, Tatiana! #1nt#RSI
Two weeks later, and it's finally here. A brief recap & some thoughts on the #AIIC seminar on #RSI interpreting. Took me a while, but here we are. A wonderful seminar, and a very balanced debate. Thank you @aiicnederland !

Striking examples of interpreters being used in legal cases to attain... certain goals. Also: ”No Chinese interpreter available in court; only Chinese interpreter is the one accused.” What should we do? Interesting speech by Anthony Pym. #DiscussInterpreting#isiticolloque#1nt
@lapiedrarosetta Interesting example: racist remarks by a politician get cleaned up by a certain booth. The politician’s mike gets cut and he receives a fine for defamatory speech. Press and audience of that particular language do not understand the ‘exaggerated’ reaction of the EP.
@lapiedrarosetta I find it important to not undermine our reliability. We cannot alter the message, we cannot have 1 speaker’s personality become 23 different personalities through their words, depending on booth.
Events such as #WISE, #LeedsENIT and the CCIC give you a network of colleagues all over the world to turn to for information on their markets.
When offered to work outside your market - ASK for advice (e.g. on rates). Don't undercut your colleagues.

Low cortisol/stress hormone is used as one indicator for a lack of fatigue.... seems counterintuitive to me. Cortisol keeps you on the edge of your seat! Let’s not suggest terps fake fatigue because they dislike remote interpreting.
Superb research on VRI experiences: but does low cortisol/stress hormone indicate staying awake... or falling asleep? Terps report fatigue as well as less stress interpreting from miles away. Maybe the buzz helps concentrate for so long?
When some interpreters mitigate racial/sexist comments and others don’t... the speech will vary per booth, and interpretation is less reliable. But did you hear that controversial term for sure? #1nt is a job without a safety net. Research by Magdalena Bartlomiejczyk.
The feminization of a profession is often linked with a loss of prestige and a decrease in salaries. True for the #1nt profession as well unfortunately. More details by Sarah Hickey at #DiscussInterpreting
Interesting talks at the Discuss Interpreting conference in Paris this morning! How to deal with defamatory speech, the gender imbalance in the profession, shifting trends ...
#EYAWKANDA is back in town!
A very intense debate where interpreters from a range of booths and markets exchange their views on the hottest topics in the profession - with simultaneous interpretation, of course!
