@Y2SHAF People who live in Dubai, do it so they can spend their entire summers in places like this. Dubai summer = empty. Dubai money spent in Europe = extremely high. 👍
@gregwrightYP@yorkshirepost@CommonsPAC@loanchargeAPPG The fact HMRC have achieved 800 settlements for 50K+ cases outstanding (!) and spent £186m clawing back £44m is indeniable proof they are squandering taxpayer money unchecked trying to draw blood from a stone. And as those 800 were the "low hanging fruit, good luck with the rest.
@IanTodd85332631@SarahEGabbai@Should_I_Pay Check the chronology.
HMRC assessed individuals arguing loans were taxable.
HMRC failed in Court.
HMRC did not assess the employers under PAYE.
Then HMRC “duped” Parliament into a retrospective tax charge.
Then LCAG blamed Promoters (and anyone else they could think of)
8 weeks:
According to a written response from McCann he had a meeting with the APPG 8 weeks ago on 3rd February 2026.
Why has the secretariat not published any minutes of this meeting?
Is a meeting with the Reviewer not deemed relevant to the 67,000 wider #loancharge community?
Dan Tomlinson MP will be familiar to many dealing with the latest #LoanCharge shambles. He is Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. Based on this interview he wouldn’t get a middle manager job in a top 10 accounting firm. Mediocrity really does rise to the top in Govt.
@DanNeidle We've had decades of barrister advice used to provide credibility to #LoanCharge schemes and these ppl (and other enablers) have made millions and walked away, leaving a trail of destruction. Meanwhile, #LoanChargeSuicides for the people duped
Did you know that Ray McCann met with the #loancharge APPG on 3rd February 2026?
Where are the minutes?
The McCann summary starts by addressing the £70k cap & LCAG's misunderstanding on PAYE credits.
McCann says "most of what should have been paid in tax went to the individuals"
I am not sure Ray McCann or Sir Amyas Morse planned to become complicit in @HMRCgovuk organised crime, but that's exactly what happened. Penalties, outrageous interest fines and inheritance tax, mixing punishment as income or loans to double dip. #loancharge
What really concerns me is how HMT/HMRC have walked all over it and altered the T&Cs with such ease. It makes a complete mockery of any report/ review etc etc, independent or not. I believe very few will settle as a result.
The #loancharge goes from bad to worse. Successive attempts by HMRC to “resolve” (mask) the shit show have resulted in them digging in deeper to save face, proving they are inhumane, whilst causing incomprehensible misery and stress for ‘000’s and possibly more suicides..
People are now being asked to pay only income tax, no NI & no interest, on money they earned 10 years ago. No adjustment for the time value of money. Only those who cheated HMRC’s previous deadline on a charge that came into effect 7 years ago, are given these concessions 🤷♂️
@LoanChargeBurst@gurpreetnarwan The tax system had it in hand until HMRC tried to circumvent matters when the Courts didn't back them.
This all started when HMRC proposed in September 2015 a retrospective #loancharge
HMRC said "We win or we win, clever isn't it"
Since then they've been covering their backs.
@lionheart_jon@Giles_Littlef@gurpreetnarwan HMRC have been happy to mislead the MPs & the Lords. We watched them do so live on Parliament TV & they seemed very practised at it.
The problem is that LCAG have equally been happy to mislead the MPs & Lords & so the APPG end up lobbying for all the wrong things 🤦♂️
Here is a kick in the teeth for 'Jumper' though.
HMRC say that if they re-work the settlement figures based on the McCann Review but you have already paid more under the #loancharge, then you can whistle cause you ain't getting any of it back!
