私は妻のために料理をします。デートの計画も立てます。二人の関係にロマンスがなくならないよう努力しています。家計の管理もして、家のプロジェクトを始めたら最後までやり遂げます。子どもを持ちたくないという妻の意思も尊重しています。義理の家族のことも、できる限り手伝っています。

これ以上どうすれば、妻を愛していることや、この結婚生活に本気で向き合っていることを伝えられるのか、正直もう分かりません。

しかも、ややこしいのは、妻が時々セックスを求めてくることです。

でも、たいていは妻の都合のいいタイミングです。

最近、妻が女友達と過ごしたあと、帰ってきて「友達の夫たちは本当にひどい」と話していました。

浮気をしているからではありません。夫婦関係にほとんど関わらなかったり、家事を手伝わなかったり、自分にできることを何もしなかったりするからだそうです。

私はその話を聞きながら、心の中で叫びたくなりました。

妻が他の女性たちから羨ましがられるようなことを、私はしているつもりです。

感情面でも支えています。家のこともしています。経済的な安定も支えています。愛情も示しています。デートもします。ロマンスも大切にしています。そして、人生のパートナーとして一緒に歩もうとしています。

それなのに、私は今でも「自分は求められていない」と感じています。

そして、その感覚が思っていた以上に自分の心を蝕み始めています。

新しいパスワードは、名前と苗字、それに年度を組み合わせたものでした。例えば、名前がSarah Millerだったら、パスワードは「sarahmiller2021」という感じです。
