Bitcoin Conference 2026 in Vegas was a good reminder of how “mature” the Bitcoin industry has become.
And by mature, I mean stale.
Lots of capital.
Lots of infrastructure.
Lots of people pretending the industry knows where it’s going.
But once you cut through the branding and the recycled talking points, the direction still feels weak. Same old assumptions. Same old standards. Same old comfort zone.
That’s why Bitcoin Cash stood out even harder to me.
BCH has orders-of-magnitude more room for real-world application adoption than the BTC crowd wants to admit. Not because of slogans. Not because of branding. Because the actual design space is bigger.
And that’s the part that drives maxis insane.
You can only hear “multisig multisig multisig” so many times before realizing a huge part of this industry has frozen itself intellectually. Multisig is still treated like the pinnacle of fund control, as if Bitcoin just hit its final form years ago and nobody needs to think any harder.
Meanwhile BCH already has covenant capabilities that open up far more serious models for custody, treasury controls, lending structures, and other real-world financial applications.
Not theory.
Not cope.
Not “someday.”
Actual capability.
That’s the funny part about Bitcoin discourse online.
A lot of keyboard warriors talk like they’re defending technical truth, but the second you get into real conversations, most of them have barely explored the design space at all. They’re not arguing from understanding. They’re arguing from tribe.
They call BCH a scam.
They repeat the same tired lines.
They posture endlessly on Twitter.
But once people are out in the real world, face to face, a lot of that confidence evaporates fast. Because it’s much harder to hide behind memes and social reinforcement when someone is walking you through actual capabilities that your side either ignored, mocked, or never bothered to understand.
That was one of the better parts of Vegas:
there are still open-minded people in this industry.
Not everyone is trapped in maxi theater.
Not everyone is interested in performing for their timeline.
Some people still want to talk seriously about what can actually be built.
And if this industry ever decides it wants more than stale narratives and self-congratulatory circle jerking, BCH deserves a much closer look.
Because the gap here is not technical.
The gap is that too many people would rather type furiously about the future than admit BCH already unlocked parts of it.
PS: Shoutout to my homie @00TATTS for all the work he's doing spreading the good word on BCH while doing tattoos for people in Vegas. Amazing to finally meet the people you've only seen online
