Andrea Egan, UNISON's elected president, has been scandalously expelled from the Labour Party for the "crime" of sharing two @socialist_app articles. Our statement:
Hearing that Sam Tarry has been sacked as transport minister.
It seems that, in Keir Starmer’s Labour, the price of basic solidarity with striking workers is immediate dismissal.
Solidarity with @RMTunion who begin the first of 3 days of strike action today in a fight against the Tories and rail bosses to defend jobs, pay and conditions ✊🚩
Watch Nick, RMT member, explain why the strikes are happening and how the wider labour movement can support them👇
Being a branch sec is sometimes a thankless job, but the sense of pride I feel when our young delegate Lewis Shanley can be supported to tell his truth to support a motion on Young Members' Well Being so powerfully makes everything worthwhile. @UnisonMcr@NorthWestUNISON#undc22
Really looking forward to speaking on this panel tonight - if you want to hear from your democratically elected NEC and our supporters in the wider labour movement I would definitely recommend attending!! ✊
@LillyBNEC great speech the motions are not rule changes. Rule A.2.2 on questions of interpretation of rule nec has binding decision. We have taken the first steps to be a fighting union. We have increased strike pay to £50 & the Scottish local government dispute to £70 a day.
I wrote this for Socialist Appeal ahead of next week's #UNDC22. This will be an important conference for our union - it is vital we come away from it ready to face up to the tasks before us
"We must unite with sister unions, and push for coordinated action across the public sector, to strike a blow against the Tories, and make the bosses pay for this crisis."

In my opinion, you should vote for these candidates if:
- you want real, democratic change in UNISON
- you want a union that will defend you in this cost of living crisis
- you want a union that backs you in the fight to get what you deserve!!
Great speech from our delegate @LillyBNEC about getting young people involved in unions "When young people join, we need to be asking them, what do you want to change?" #TUCYWC22
