The Russian dictator is now so paranoid that he had this Russian artist murdered in Poland for paintings like this.
It'd be a shame if we made his works more popular than ever.
Today, Russia damaged:
- Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a nearly 1,000-year-old UNESCO World Heritage site;
- The Mystetskyi Arsenal cultural complex in Kyiv;
- The Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv;
- The Kharkiv Art Museum;
- The House of Chamber and Organ Music in Dnipro.
These are not military targets. This is Ukrainian culture, history, art, and identity.
So tell us again, what exactly is Russia fighting for? Or is it fighting against the very existence of Ukraine itself?
France's Foreign Minister put it well:
A strike on the Lavra is the equivalent of bombing Notre-Dame.
This is what russia calls defending Christianity.
Zelenskyy: Putin did not want uncomfortable questions while greeting President Trump on his birthday. So first he greeted him, as usual, cynically. Then attacked Ukraine.
Journalist: What would you say to Putin after attack on Kyiv Lavra?
Zelenskyy: We'll say more later.
Donald Tusk sobre a Ucrânia:
"Nem o Prémio Nobel da Paz seria suficiente.
Há quem diga que a Ucrânia deveria estar grata por tudo. A verdade é exatamente o oposto.
Nós, os outros, é que devemos estar gratos à Ucrânia."
When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped.
Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself.
A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.
We offered Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions to end the war could be made. He does not want it.
We discussed with the U.S. and France the possibility of a meeting with Russia around the G7, with all democratic nations represented. Putin does not want it.
Yesterday, we discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the U.S. – in a format where Putin would find it much harder to refuse at least to President Trump.
We will see what comes of it. If Russia refuses this chance as well, additional pressure will be needed.
From an intervention at the EU Intergovernmental Conference. (3/3)
VON DER LEYEN: We are anchoring Ukraine in Europe. Today, we open the first cluster of the EU accession negotiations. This is a huge step forward. Ukraine has made remarkable reform progress. They have delivered, so now we have to deliver, too.
❗️Ukraine has recently received and deployed a package of Patriot missiles, — Zelenskyy
After today’s attack, the stocks need to be replenished again. The President emphasized that if there had been enough missiles, the consequences would have been completely different.
First responders have put out the fires in Kyiv – at the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal. I am grateful to all the services working at the sites of the strikes, and to everyone who is helping. It has been confirmed that two Russian drones deliberately targeted the part of the city where the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal are located. As of now, 35 people are reported injured in Kyiv. Across the country, 53 people have been wounded, and 11 people are known to have been killed in this massive Russian attack. My condolences to all their families and loved ones.
We are in constant communication with our partners regarding the consequences of this Russian attack and the necessary response. It is important that state leaders, public leaders, and international organizations do not remain silent. I have instructed Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our entire diplomatic team to maximize all contacts with partners today so that international events this week and next deliver real results for strengthening our defense and increasing global pressure on Russia over this war. We need a just response to this Russian strike. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine.
🚨✈️ BREAKING: A Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber has crashed in Russia's Irkutsk Oblast.

⚡️Irish alumina exports to Russia escape latest EU sanctions, but political pressure is growing.
The EU's forthcoming sanctions package won't include Ireland's alumina exports to Russia, but a new letter by members of the European Parliament (MEPs), combined with pressure from Estonia's foreign minister and civil society activists, shows the issue is not going to disappear over the summer.

Putin sends a message to G7 and European Council summits this week: he bets on terror instead of diplomacy.
I urge the G7 and European leaders to hear this message well and ensure a proper response: stronger air defense for Ukraine and pressure on the aggressor.
At least 4 civilians have been killed and almost 30 injured in Kyiv as a result of Russia’s massive attack with the use of over 60 missiles and hundreds of drones.
Russia also killed 5 first responders in a vile double-tap strike on Kharkiv.
There have been more casualties across Ukraine in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Mykolayiv, Zaporizhzhia, and other regions.
As the 21st century’s worst barbarian, Putin specifically targeted unique religious and cultural sites.
Russians severely damaged the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra; bombed the historic Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studios, destroying Ukraine’s largest and oldest costumes collection; struck the Kharkiv Art Museum and the Dnipro House Of Organ And Chamber Music.
Russia has no justification for ruining lives, targeting residential areas, and destroying Ukrainian culture. It must be held accountable for its crimes.
This attack demonstrates the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. This is priority number one. Additional contributions to PURL, strong decisions to provide Ukraine with air defense systems and interceptors.
We also urge our partners to speed up the Ukraine-led European effort to develop our own protection from ballistic threats. It is time to deprive barbarians such as Putin from their terrorist tools.
Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the Russian strikes are ongoing in Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv. Last night, the Russians launched more than 60 missiles at the capital alone. In total, 70 missiles and 611 drones were used against Ukraine. As of now, 28 people have been reported injured and four killed in the capital. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. A Russian strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra set the Dormition Cathedral on fire – a church whose history dates back to the 11th century. And this is one of Russia’s most serious crimes against Christian culture to date. The State Emergency Service has already extinguished the fire on the cathedral’s roof. In Kharkiv, the Russians carried out a repeat strike against our rescuers as they were putting out a fire at the site of an earlier strike on an industrial facility. So far, tragically, five people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Nine people have been injured. In Dnipro, Russia struck the grounds of a railway station, a college, and several enterprises.
Other cities and communities were targeted as well. The Kyiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions were also under attack. This is how Russia shows the world its intention to continue the war. It is very important that there be a response from the G7 countries, which are now gathering for their summit – and that this response be decisive and substantive: more pressure on the aggressor and more support for Ukraine’s air defense, especially anti-ballistic capabilities. I thank everyone who is helping us protect lives.
It is important that the world does not remain silent in response to this latest act of Russian barbarism. This strike on the Lavra is an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity. There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks. What is needed is more cooperation to stop Russia’s war and stronger protection to save lives from Russia.
🇺🇦Zelensky visited Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv, damaged during the night Russian attack
The roof of Cathedral, one of the holiest places in the Christian world, was on fire due to enemy fire.
As Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany has not issued an official, standalone quote or statement directly condemning Russia. Will he do it now? Ever? Drop him a line @UNESCO_DG
#ruZZia’s latest attack on Kyiv damaged some of Ukraine’s most important cultural and religious landmarks.
A fire broke out on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral within the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, while the Mystetskyi Arsenal cultural and museum complex was also set ablaze.
