New print drop 🎉🎉 Inspired by the Limerick Soviet "We make bread not profits" available in A2 and A3. Release Wednesday 25th May 5:00pm. Really happy with how this one turned out. Long live the Limerick Soviet! #limerick#artwork#irishart#irishartist#drawing
I’ve always been fascinated by the Limerick Soviet, not by its failures or successes but by the energy and spirit in which it unfolded. Struggle, defiance, audacity and comradery demonstrated by ordinary citizens, united by a fierce civic pride. New print out next week.
Today's AGM of the Irish Labour History Society records continuing progress, with an interesting programme of projects and events organised and planned. Photo behind the speakers is Paddy O'Daire, Irish hero of the Spanish Civil War. #History#LabourHistory#SpanishCivilWar

The original Limerick Soviet articles written by Jim Kemmy in the Limerick Socialist 1972-3. He was the first person to really write about the event afaik - a task taken up by Liam Cahill from 1979 onwards & by Raynar Lysaght (who unfortunately did not acknowledge Kemmy's work)

#OTD 1919 14,000 workers in Limerick begin a General Strike Against British Militarism, that evolves into the Limerick Soviet. They're protesting against having to show a Military Pass on their way to & from work. For 2 weeks, workers’ reps control every aspect of city life 1/
