Terrible news on the devastating earthquake in Eastern #Afghanistan. My heart goes out to those who lost dear ones.
The Afghan people has struggled hard this last year. This catastrophe adds even more to the burden. Humanitarian assistance is vital.

Deeply disturbing news on attack of innocent worshipers at a #Sikh temple in #Kabul today.
Sincere condolences to all affected.
Attacks on civilians must stop. The protection of religious freedom and minorities is fundamental to the peace and stability of any society.
I condemn the recent attacks in Afghanistan, which claimed many civilian lives, including members of the Hazara Shia community & at least 16 children.
I repeat: Attacks against civilians are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.
Civilians are not a target.
Observations at the conclusion of my initial visit to Afghanistan as Special Rapporteur on Human Rights. I encourage you to read the statement. Will continue to monitor the situation & promote & protect #Afghanistan human rights
