Tonight I will be supporting the South African national football team, Bafana Bafana. Unlike some people, I do not associate Afrophobia or xenophobia with sport. The fact that a small minority use derogatory terms such as kwerekwere does not mean that all South Africans think or behave that way.

Football should bring people together, not deepen divisions. We must be careful not to judge an entire nation, its people, or its national team based on the actions of a few individuals.

Foreigners are not only Black people. SA has a white, Indian, and Asian illegal immigration problem as well, but we pretend not see it, because those groups are protected by the GNU.

They live here, work here, and study here and most of them do so without paying tax, while buying property and accessing opportunities that South Africans are locked out of. Most Zimbabweans are in Marabastad and Small Street selling tomatoes. But when it comes to formal jobs, professional spaces, and property ownership, who do you actually see benefiting???
