Newly elected Parliament Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth.

Oboth-Oboth (NRM, West Budama Central) secured a landslide victory with 441 votes at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, defeating Paul Mwiru (NUP) who received 60 votes, and Norbert Mao (DP) who garnered 15 votes.

Her story caught attention however, most young people struggling a similar condition are still unnoticed.

But charity is not a policy.

Angel’s story has exposed a deeper issue. It has shown how easily a structural problem can be disguised as a feel-good moment. Social media has the power to highlight these realities, but it cannot replace long-term solutions.

If anything, this moment should shift the conversation.

From praise to pressure, from admiration to accountability.
