Fashion magazine W Korea is facing criticism for hosting an event to raise awareness of breast cancer, but the event was deemed to go against the stated purpose. Furthermore, W Korea has neither issued a statement regarding this, instead just hastily deleting some posts or uploading unrelated content.
On their SNS, they only showed celebrities drinking, dancing, and chatting with each other. Instead of asking questions regarding breast cancer, the organizers were busy asking the attendees unrelated questions.
The controversy continues with Jay Park performing his hit song 'MOMMAE', whose lyrics are contrary to the campaign's purpose. The backstage of All Day Project stage also sparked controversy as it showed a photo of a woman in underwear, revealing her body.
While most breast cancer events feature a pink ribbon or a pink outfit as dress code, the Love Your W didn't; instead, most of the attendees wore black. The title of 'the largest breast cancer awareness campaign event in Korea' also seems off with the cumulative donation over the past 20 years being only 1.1 billion won. It's disappointing considering the glamour and scale of the event.
