Welcome to Kipling Lions Pre-school! We are a community-based nursery, in our own secure premises, for 2-5 year olds. We have been rated Good by Ofsted.
Our focus theme this week is bugs. In this activity Cindy bought in a dead bee for the children to inspect closely. This sparked conversation about how bees work together to make honey and how important it is for us to work as a team i.e. to tidy up. We all had a taster of honey
We also have been making lanterns in celebration of Eid, the children practiced using their scissor skills to cut out the templates and we followed the instructions on how to fold them together.
This week the children have enjoyed playing with the hose, they found that it caused a rainbow π. Some of the children also liked getting the staff wet. It was very refreshing. We have had lots of water play this week; it has been lovely in the hot weather
On Monday we used play dough and lots of other resources to make different faces. We spoke about similarities and differences between each other. The children used the resources to make funny faces with different emotions such as sad and happy.
On Thursday the children enjoyed setting up their very own cinema, they made their tickets to sell to their friends then set some chairs out ready for our film to start which was called Super Dog. After the film the children described Super Dogβs heroic adventures to Tasha.
Inside one of the children told everybody a fact about octopi, an octopus has nine brains. This led to a craft activity where everybody worked together to make an octopus using tissue paper making rainbow tentacles. We will finish it next week
The children have had a really fun half term and have loved the opportunity to play in the school playground. We worked on our physical development skills playing on the trim trail and balancing along the train. The weather has been really sunny;
We played with the volcano in our tuff tray with dinosaurs. The children put on a talent show outside. They took it in turns to sing and dance, showing their best skills. There was some beautiful jumping and twirling.
In the afternoon we had a wonderful tea party. We bought lots of special things such as sandwiches and little cupcakes, Union Jack plates and a special London table cloth. We listened to lots of music and have had great fun celebrating the Kings coronation
The children have had a really fun week celebrating the coronation last week. We took part in all sorts of fun activities.
We made paper crowns experimenting with sticking; we spoke about different ways of sticking and found some special gems to put on.
On Friday morning we had a visit from Michael, he came to visit the children from the Booth Museum with Boris the tiger. He rolled the tiger out and the children got to feel him whilst Michael told them about him. Michael then read The Tiger Who Came To Tea with the children.
