Actor John Leguizamo has repeatedly criticised Hollywood for casting white actors as Latino historical figures and characters.
Yet he'll be appearing in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, a film that hasn't cast a single Greek actor in a major role and casts Helen of Troy as a woman of Sub-Saharan African ancestry. Troy was a real historical city, and the available historical and archaeological evidence does not support the idea that its population was predominantly of Sub-Saharan African origin.
It's an interesting contrast between the standards Leguizamo has argued for in some contexts and the project he's chosen to be part of here. But hey, it's not like woke Hollywood is allergic to compulsive hypocrisy, right?
Joe Rogan canât believe what heâs hearing as British MP Rupert Lowe reveals arriving migrants get pushed to the âtop of the listâ for dental and healthcare perks citizens âdonât get.â
ROGAN: âIf you live in a terribly poor country and you can just get to England, then instantaneously you will get money and housing. Why would you not do that?â
LOWE: âWell, not only that, you go to the top of the waiting list for dental treatment, which British people donât get. The NHS, youâre at the top of the waiting list.â
ROGAN: âWait a minute. They get access to dental treatment that the British people donât get?â
LOWE: âCorrect.â
ROGAN: âWhy do immigrants get access to it?â
LOWE: âThis, Joe, is the mystery of what our leadersâI donât know what they think theyâre doing⊠To your point, if they know thereâs welfare when they reach Britain, theyâll travel across multiple safe countries to get to the welfare, the free housing, and all the other stuff.â
