UPDATE: A D.C. Board of Elections spokesperson tells me there are still lines at eight voting centers in D.C., so results won't be released until those are cleared.
Election results release update: Election results will be available on https://t.co/b4CLvSYuWD after all voters in line at 8 pm have cast their ballots. Check back here for updates! #vote4dc

Official today: Capital Weather is independent once again.
Twenty-two years after launching Capital Weather as an independent weather website for the DC area — and 18 years after first partnering with The Washington Post and becoming the Capital Weather Gang — we are independent again.
Today, we’re officially launching a new chapter at https://t.co/r3dKxepf5m and on our new mobile app. We are committed to making our core forecasts and updates free and accessible to everyone. Your support will make this possible.
Here is what we’ve built and how you can support us.
What we’ve built:
☀️ Around-the-clock forecasts and live updates
📧 Expanded newsletters
📱 A new Capital Weather app
🌦️ Interactive weather and climate tools
💬 A stronger community experience
🎙️ We will continue to provide forecasts on WAMU 88.5
How you can boost and sustain our independent launch:
• Support our work at https://t.co/jh1PQK6W7Q
• Download the Capital Weather app on iOS or Android
• Make Capital Weather your everyday weather source
• Share this post with friends and family across the DMV
Some of you have already joined our community and we could not be more grateful.
Since pioneering digital local weather coverage in 2004, we’ve believed weather is something we all experience together. Your questions, storm reports, photos, and conversations have helped shape Capital Weather into one of the nation’s leading regional weather communities.
Our mission remains the same as always: to be the most trusted everyday source for DC-area weather forecasts, breaking updates, and in-depth weather and climate news.
From sunny days to stormy days — and from Snowmageddon (2010) to Snowcrete (2026) — it’s been an incredible ride.
Thank you for being part of this community. We’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead.
@mattadler81 I use it for restaurants when I'm outside the US, particularly in Europe, because I find more folks there use it for reviews. Also for reviews on things like walking tours, day tours etc but never really in the US.
There are two Washington, DCs.
One that is fighting like hell to close 18th Street in Adams Morgan to car traffic.
The other that is fighting like hell for BASIC needs— convenient quality groceries, an adequately staffed and operating hospital for 150k ppl and safe streets.
mt. pleasant is a DC neighborhood treasure. each peach Market, bold fork books, nido wine shop, and ellē bakery/cafe all great spots, all within walking distance from each other. kinda jealous of folks who live there & sometimes miss my old stomping grounds in columbia heights.
DC’s hottest bakery is a home bakery. Finally got my hands on Capitol Jill Baking’s baked goods! Got a dill pickle biscuit, mango lassi donut, Swedish cardamom bun, & rhubarb earl grey cake! @capitoljill was also featured in @washingtonian latest piece on dc-area bakers. @jsidman
#India: We regret fast passage of Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, without adequate stakeholder consultation. The amendments risk setting back hard-won rights of transgender people, replacing self-identification with mandatory medical verification processes.
India has been a pioneer for rights of transgender & gender-diverse people. This Bill will have far-reaching impacts on right to privacy & risk marginalisation of transgender people.
@KenyaAirways We just landed in JFK on KQ2 after a 12 hour layover in Nairobi and somehow NONE of our bags have made it. We've filed a claim but don't have a reference number so can't track it online. Feels insane that despite such a long layover five suitcases are missing!
I understand we are flying in precarious times, I understand flights have weight restrictions due to carrying extra fuel and that's why our bags were left behind. All we're asking for is clear communication about 1. Where our bags are and 2. When to expect them.
Landed in NYC on Friday morning to find @KenyaAirways had not loaded all 5 of our suitcases. Now they won't provide any update about where our bags are or when we can expect them. @KQSupport has no info either and we are going on almost 96 hours without any of our belongings.
