ICE detained a Navajo man for 4 hours after he identified himself, offered his Tribal ID, Certificate of Indian Blood, and birth certificate.
They told him he must be stealing someone’s identity and that they would “get his family next.”
As he described it: “I was treated as if we haven’t earned our place here. This is our place. This is beyond racism, they hate us like we were pests and rodents in their home, but this is OUR home, and always has been.”
It is against the Constitution and against basic human dignity to detain and arrest someone for the color of their skin.
ICE must be stopped and Secretary Noem removed from office.
Now the Department of Homeland Security is using the 3 Lakota men ICE has incarcerated as bargaining hostages in order to coerce tribal leaders into making a “deal.”
I smell a rat. This has DHS Secretary KKKristi Noem’s nefarious name written all over it.
Insane….ICE Nazis kidnapped 4 members of Oglala Sioux Tribe….released 1 and now can’t "locate" the other 3
"There is nobody more American than American Indians! We are America, how can you possibly target Native Americans? It's legally impossible!"
Hey @Sec_Noem, it's been a week since ICE detained 4 members of the Oglala Sioux tribe.
Native Americans are U.S. Citizens. Stop your racist arrests NOW.
PS: Maybe you should read the letter you sent me after I pushed for agent training to make sure Native Americans aren't stopped again. Here's an annotated copy to make it easier for you.
I am getting so sick of this. Is anyone going to hold this man accountable for anything? It’s like they’re letting him do whatever he damn well pleases with no consequences. Do something dammit
Evidence confirms indigenous people have inhabited their lands for over 18,000 years. 🤯
Scientific DNA evidence confirms the Blackfeet Nation has inhabited their ancestral lands for over 18,000 years, predating modern borders and treaties.
The Blackfeet, or South Piikani, have long maintained that their lineage on the land spans back to time immemorial, a claim validated by 2023 DNA evidence confirming an 18,000-year presence in the region. As one of the four tribes of the Blackfoot Confederacy, they once managed a vast prairie ecosystem stretching from Canada to Yellowstone. Their ancestral expertise involved sophisticated ecological management, such as using controlled fires to stimulate new grass growth for bison herds. This deep-rooted connection to the environment not only sustained their population but is believed to have given them their name, as their moccasins became stained black from walking the charred soil of the prairies they carefully tended.
Despite their extensive history, the 19th century brought significant upheaval as treaties and territorial shifts systematically reduced their land. The 1888 Sweet Grass Hills Treaty and the subsequent 1896 forced cession of mountain lands—now known as Glacier National Park—drastically altered their geographic footprint. However, the Blackfeet people have remained resilient, with over 10,000 members currently living on a 1.5 million-acre reservation bordering the park. Today, the tribe continues to serve as stewards of the Rocky Mountain Front, actively preserving their native language and cultural traditions that have been shaped by eighteen millennia of continuous residence on the same soil.
