Many Michigan students are below grade level in reading and writing. These laws provide early screening and literacy instruction grounded in cognitive science.
Love the focus on how everyone in a school setting is responsible for MTSS/RTI. MTSS is not just interventions, because tier 1 is for all students and core instruction is the first focus! Prevention is key.
And take the burden off families having to get children identified privately. Parents shouldn’t have to make the excruciating financial sacrifice of paying for an expensive neuropsych eval hoping their district will finally provide federally required identification.

The changes in SB567 will be especially helpful for kids with characteristics of dyslexia and will improve reading instruction for all students.
