Over scaffolding is the enemy of agency. We need to help students be comfortable with their approximations in writing, (and make sure we're comfortable with their approximations) to make sure we don't unintentionally reduce students ownership and decision making.

Teaching is relational. Teachers who have knowledge about their students will be better able to teach them. This is what makes remote learning tougher, so teachers make sure to devote time to building those relationships even virtually.
