Lithuania set a new record last week – for the first time in 15 years, the country exported more electricity than it imported.

Last week, local power plants in Lithuania covered the entire country's demand, with the surplus exported to Latvia, Poland, and Sweden.

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have successfully synchronised their electricity grids with the Continental Europe Synchronous Area (CESA) on 09 February 2025 at 14:05 CET, marking a historic milestone in their journey towards strengthened energy system resilience and integration.

The electricity systems of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania continue to operate independently.

As part of the isolated operation test programme, the Baltic system operators are carrying out frequency management tests to assess their ability to ensure grid stability.
