RIP to the finest of playwrights, directors and teachers. I learnt so much from assisting him, and I was so happy to programme his final play Something in the Air @JSTheatre. If there's a heaven with actors in it, the standard of text work is about to go through the roof.
Loved directing Love's Labour's Lost and Much Ado @GuildfordBard, and can't wait to share them with Richmond audiences @OrangeTreeThtr. Outdoors in August.

Very sad to hear this. I loved working with Penny: an actor of lethal precision and infinite wit. And the best fun in tea breaks and on tour. She also raised a ton of money for charitable causes and was always willing to muck in and help out. I'll miss her very much.
I am so very sad to learn that the great actor Michael Pennington has died. We were together at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre for the best part of 13 yrs. Over the years whenever we met we would talk ‘Shakespeare!’
He was one of our great Shakespearean actors. RIP Dear Michael.
"These our actors, as I foretold you, were all spirits, and are melted into air, into thin air."
#MichaelPennington@JSTheatre saying goodbye to The Tempest
RIP to my friend and collaborator Michael Pennington. The sharpest mind in any room, and what an actor. He was an dangerously charismatic Edgar in Dances of Death at the Gate, and the sorrowing, plangent heart of The Tempest @JSTheatre.

I'm saddened to hear of the death of Bishop Richard Harries. He loved the theatre - once devoted a Thought for the Day to a play I'd directed. A hugely intelligent and thoughtful spiritual leader who I wish I'd spent more time with. RIP.
I’m very sorry to hear that Richard Harries has died. He was a lovely kind intelligent and spiritual man who served as Bishop of Oxford and a member of the House of Lords. Many will know his books or his radio appearances. But I knew him as the man who ordained me.
RIP
