We don't have to have formal authority to be able to influence. Hierarchical systems can replicate parent–child relationships & create oppressive work environments. Leading without relying on authority is a higher evolutionary skill. Eight ways that all of us can influence without authority: https://t.co/deIwKCFpJi By @JesseLynStoner. Graphic: @tnvora
@theiaincameron On 2 occasions I’ve given way to pedestrians & had angry drivers behind giving it the biggin at me, because I’ve added a millisecond to their journey 🙄Typically though I walk rather than drive and most motorists don’t seem aware.
Micromanagement has a terrible impact on psychological safety. Micromanaged teams always have low scores in assessments of psychological safety. To deal with it:
1) make efforts to find out if it's happening amongst the teams you lead (people usually don't tell spontaneously)
2) support people in their first leadership roles not to become micromanagers
3) if you're being micromanaged, take action with others
4) self-reflect on your own style

A receptionist in #NHS is precious. They see things you don’t. Hear things you don’t. They have ideas based on experiences. They speak to more patients than others. They navigate queries & are first access
Thank you for all you do

@LBC@mrjamesob I voted to remain but I was interested to hear the chair of Covent Garden fruitNveg market share their lived personal&business experience. However JOB talked over & down to the chap. Why is no one’s but JOBs thoughts relevant if they don’t align with his. It’s horrid to listen to
@Kezzadizzycow@C90Hinton@sainsburys Hi there, just happened to me too this AM. Same experience, the first transaction didn’t go through. Like many people I’m gonna find it tricky waiting a few days for my money to be returned.

A poet, a gentleman and a true original who together with @faithless made a handful of tunes that define both club culture and a generation. In a hundred years time if someone asks what all the fuss was about in 1996, just play them Insomnia, job done…
Hey @LidlGB considering the known links between football, drinking and DV, I don’t think this is great product placement/adjacency. I think there are better options
@Lord_Sugar@elonmusk Pre covid I never wanted 2 WFH,now I’m perm’ WFH & more productive & engaged. Going back to an office would be a retrograde step.WFH is better for business continuity,as we continue to work during adverse weather & if our kids are poorly. Better for colleague&patient experience
Childbirth fads are frequently associated with influencers and seen as a distinctly 21st century thing. Let us tell you about an early 20th century birth fad: the twilight sleep, which swept New York City between 1914 and 1916.
Leaders experience emotional distress when they can’t help with staffing and work overload. So focus also on giving staff voice, justice and fairness, better conditions, self rostering, improving teamwork, better supervision meetings and education and training. That helps.
As a young teen I watched Trooping with my Dad. It was raining. Dad told some tourists that when The Queen arrives the rain will stop. I rolled my eyes. Shortly after the Queen arrived on Horse Guards & the rain stopped. It rained a lot yesterday. God bless #QueenElizabeth
