@seanfeucht@BrianZahnd This isn’t the proper context for this verse 🙂↔️ given Jesus is talking about a violent revolution brought on by centuries of oppression as a result of being a vassal state (rocks crying out isn’t because they have voices 🙄). Being kicked out of a mallnot comparable.
Hanging here tonight, pondering how I can be the kind of vulnerable friend depicted in this parable who is persistent and honest. And evaluating my own capacity to cover the shame of others so they can fulfill their needed roles.
@joelrwidman Under the guise of capitalism-I can see your tension-especially with materialism and militarism as inevitable products. With the intent to provide for a family/a body and be a productive company/employer that supplies need, adults submitting to adults is necessary and healthy IMO
@joelrwidman Adults subjecting themselves to other adults is odd? Or are do you mean in the context of capitalism? I’m not sure in which context you’re speaking. Because I can think of many theological beliefs and verses that undergird subject one’s self to others.
@joelrwidman Interesting. I wouldn’t have gathered that from the OG tweet. I don’t view having a manager or a boss as submission to a master (it’s order and hierarchy that is productive), but I think your speaking much more broadly and conceptually than I would be. Per the usual for us 😜
@joelrwidman I believe humanity wants to be the creator, rather than follow one voice, such as Moses, a prophetic leader. So from the first sentence, I diverge from your thought.
@joelrwidman I would have never guess your OG tweet was based on the Exodus narrative because I don’t think it illustrates the issues and desires present in the text. We have a differing perspective on “humanity’s” base desires and issues, which would create the greatest temp.
Twitter feels like that bar you go to where you’ve established a firm persona, which is usually more authoratative and brash than your true person. Is everyone yelling here or is that just me?
@joelrwidman I think based on your further explanation, your original tweet is somewhat unclear to me. And that’s okay. I can think of examples from Galatians or even Hebrews and Israel’s narrative to undergird your most recent reply but it doesn’t seem to uphold your OG tweet. Carry on.
@joelrwidman I’m mainly contending with your idea that humanity WANTS to gather around ONE voice to understand truth and that a desire such as that is the greatest temptation.
Tired of Being Courageous, a poem:
Perhaps, it's okay to be tired of being courageous at times. For sometimes, you don't want to think about doing something afraid because you're tired of being afraid, and you just want to know what it feels like to be okay.
Yes, there will be days where courage finds you in the deep waters of life and propels you forward with mighty waves. And then, there will be other days where all you want to do is to find a quiet place along the shore and let the waves of courage remain at a distance, allowing yourself to just be...
and longing for this does not make you weak.
Yes, there will be times where courage will be exactly what you need... and then, there will also be times where you just need room to be still and breathe.
