I used to tell parents this all the time in my conferences. Don’t stop reading to your children! Even when they’re capable of reading independently. The benefits of sharing a good story read by a fluent adult reader are endless!
When people around you are doing extraordinary work, it’s important to let them know. Educators don’t do their thing for “pats on the back,” but a little bit of validation can provide an extra boost of energy to keep on keepin’ on. Everyone likes to be noticed and appreciated.
I love this! Helping students to problem solve, collaborate and think outside the box are skills that often fall by the wayside, especially in elementary school.
