Soon Mel Gibson will start developing a limited television series about the Great Siege of Malta, one of the most extraordinary last stands in Christian history.

In 1565, a vast Ottoman fleet arrived to conquer Malta and destroy the Knights of St John. Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette, already in his seventies, commanded roughly 500 to 700 knights alongside Maltese fighters, European soldiers and civilians. Together, the defenders faced an invading army commonly estimated at between 30,000 and 40,000 men.

For nearly four months, the defenders endured relentless bombardment and repeated assaults. Fort St Elmo fell after a heroic resistance, but its defenders delayed the invasion long enough to weaken the attacking army. Birgu and Senglea continued to hold until reinforcements arrived from Sicily and the exhausted Ottoman forces withdrew in September.

The victory preserved Malta, transformed de Valette into a Christian hero and inspired the construction of Valletta, the fortified capital named in his honour.

Gibson has said that Malta is the only proper place to film the story because its historic fortresses still stand where the siege occurred.

After decades of recycled franchises, a serious production about faith, courage and one of history’s greatest defensive victories is exactly what audiences have been waiting for 🇲🇹✝️

1550–1614, born in the Abruzzo region and active chiefly in Rome and southern Italy Former mercenary and gambler who became founder of the Ministers of the Sick and a pioneer of organized nursing

🙏 Camillus lost his fortune, his nobility, and nearly his soul to years of soldiering and card games before a leg wound forced him into a Roman hospital, where the suffering he witnessed broke through his hardened heart. Twice dismissed from religious life because that same wound would not heal, he pressed on until he was ordained a priest in 1584.

✝️ He founded the Ministers of the Sick, whose members wore a red cross on their black habits nearly three centuries before the Red Cross existed, and by his death they had opened 65 hospitals, with over a hundred of his brothers dying from the diseases of the patients they nursed.

Saint Camillus shows that no wasted youth is beyond the reach of grace, and that mercy shown to the dying can outlive empires. 😇

There are EMPTY BUILDINGS where HUNDREDS of students should be "working" as part of their ability to be in America — run by foreign-linked groups that send money out of the country!

Locked doors, hundreds of students sharing the SAME ADDRESS, and "employers" sharing the same unleased addresses

There is a widespread "phantom employee" fraud going on. This is insane.

Many of the so-called "employers" have major red flags, such as facing lawsuits, no employment records, offshore payroll claims, and suspicious INTERNATIONAL MONEY flows

"HSI agents have visited problematic OPT employer work sites in Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Florida."
