Don't players have to sign to stay beyond the weekend due to WHL rules. Pretty sure for insurance purposes they can't pay exhibition games without being signed.

It’s possible the Blazers take near 40 players into the next stage of pre-season. Under the old rules you’d have to sign/commit to players in order to play them in ex. games. Now players maintain NCAA eligibility regardless. This is def one of the positives to the changes.
