Franco-Nigerian Military Cooperation Strengthened through Crocodile Lift 2024 Exercise
From November 23 to 25, the Nigerian and French Marines collaborated in the Crocodile Lift 2024, a maritime exercise aimed at enhancing operational cooperation and readiness. This joint operation aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s strategy to bolster partnerships with international allies in tackling evolving maritime threats.
The three-day exercise featured a range of complex operations, including a hostage release mission led by Nigeria’s Special Boat Service (SBS) with support from French sailors aboard the French Navy’s Amphibious Helicopter Carrier (LHD). Additional drills included medical evacuations, amphibious assaults, and helicopter raids, showcasing the tactical capabilities of both forces.
Crocodile Lift 2024 builds on the Exercise African Nemo, an initiative designed to foster maritime security collaboration among African and international navies. The exercise presented both Marines with opportunities to address demanding operational challenges, refine their interoperability, and reinforce their commitment to maintaining security in shared maritime domains.
As maritime threats such as piracy, smuggling, and illegal fishing continue to challenge the Gulf of Guinea region, the Franco-Nigerian partnership exemplifies the importance of joint efforts in ensuring stability and safety in critical waters.
Right now, the people that will argue with the sultan about Ramadan start up date and Eid date don’t know today’s date of the Islamic calendar. They aren’t interested in knowing if truly the moon has been sighted or not. Just wait and see.
If Eguavoen will be in charge of Ghana v Nigeria, then I am confident. I don’t know any other coach that will understand the importance of this match for our collective mental well-being, national pride and Twitter banter.
