The Iranian navy, which has been destroyed eight times, has apparently closed the Strait of Hormuz again, because the United States, for the seventh time, won the war that wasn’t a war, so now the United States has to open the Strait of Hormuz that was already open before the not-war began.
The not-war began because Iran had uranium that was totally, completely, beautifully obliterated, so they can’t build the nuclear bomb they weren’t building, which is why the United States had to start the not-war it definitely didn’t start.
Now the United States, which has nuclear weapons, is threatening to use nuclear weapons to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, because nuclear weapons are far too dangerous for countries with nuclear weapons to allow other countries to have.
If the United States saw the United States doing what the United States does in other countries, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States.
meaningless is the definition of how authoritarian you feel. With the failures of this war (starting it being the first failure) I say take this as your get out of jail free card. You can always say your job was unfinished there because of this, and america will mock you but the war would be over.
Just take the Albanian Island deal. Jared and Ivanka secured a $1.4 billion resort on Sazan, a protected island on state land. By his own account, he was introduced to Albania's prime minister on the Rothschilds' yacht. Ivanka called the place a "private island" they "discovered." Albanian prosecutors have now opened a corruption inquiry into how that land lost its protected status.
@HunterBiden all above are wrong by the way. Your paintings a smaller wrong but still wrong. They are worst than any other but all you lot have trails.
This is ridiculous. Mike Johnson canceled the vote because the War Powers Resolution was obviously going to pass in the House. It already advanced in the Senate.
Mind you, we're already 20 days past the 60-day deadline mandated by law. Under the War Powers Resolution, the President "shall terminate" U.S. military involvement after 60 days UNLESS Congress declares war or passes specific authorization. No such authorization has passed.
So what does Johnson do? He postpones the vote and sends the House on recess. Pathetic.
This New York Times piece is worth your time. Here’s what is happening, as simply as I can put it.
Back in January, Trump sued the IRS, an agency he controls, demanding $10 billion over the leak of his tax returns a number of years ago.
IRS lawyers did their jobs. They wrote a memo laying out the defenses that could beat the suit, including the fact that Trump filed too late. His own lawyer was in court when the leaker pleaded guilty in October 2023, more than two years before Trump sued.
The Justice Department never showed up to court. Never argued back. Never used the defenses sitting on their desk.
The judge got suspicious and ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually opposing each other or just colluding. The day before that brief was due, Trump dropped the suit.
Same day, his Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization fund.
Trump gets a formal apology. The IRS agrees to drop any audits of him and his family, even though a 2024 Times report found a loss in an ongoing audit could cost him over $100 million.
The acting Attorney General, Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, picks the five commissioners who decide who gets paid. Trump can fire any of them. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are not ruled out.
This is the most corrupt thing I’ve ever seen from an American president.
Where in the hell are my Republican colleagues?
https://t.co/La0nlLuz1r
🚨BREAKING: Republicans just voted AGAINST my amendment to stop Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund from bailing out the convicted felons who assaulted cops on January 6th.
You read that right. They blocked us from even debating the issue on the House floor.
Beyond shameful.
@StephenM “every time it truly matters”: are you acknowledging that not everything your party puts to vote actually matters? let’s make government smaller and more efficient then so that everything mattters and no money and time are wasted
@atrupar it’s so sad a lot of these senators have good and needed challenges to Blanche, but they are so elderly their speech is affected and diminishes the effect of their punchlines.
“WE NEED TO LET THEM DO INSIDER TRADING TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES”
That was the actual argument just made in defense of politicians trading stocks.
Members of Congress make $174,000 a year.
The median American income is roughly $63,000. (3x less)
Meanwhile the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour… also unchanged since 2009.
And you’re seriously being told politicians need access to insider trading to survive.
The system is designed to lead earth to neo-feudalism.
And it’s becoming more brazen by the year.
Asset ownership consolidates upward.
Living standards decline downward.
The middle class gets squeezed from both ends and disappears while the elite class accumulates more wealth, more influence, and more protection.
Leaving behind a permanent underclass.
And a permanent political-financial aristocracy at the top…
