This feels like a big day to me. I received my first Social Security deposit today. After 15 years of being self-employed, I finally have a regular income. I'm getting enough to be comfortable, not rich, but that's OK. Not retiring yet, but slowing down. Hope to Travel.
Mother's Day doesn't mean much to me. My mom died 25 years ago. The mother of my 4 kids divorced me 10 years ago, and I still don't fully understand why. She moved away from all of us and remarried. The kids don't like her new husband so they never see her.
I think it's sad.
@EpochTimes If "free speech" does not protect the most offensive speech and expressions, then it is meaningless. While I hate flag burning, it must be protected free speech.
I just saw #ProjectHailMary. It is the best Science Fiction movie in years, probably since 2013's Gravity. I loved the book and was delighted with the film. My 3 companions also loved this great movie.
None of us own our children. We have two decades where we hold them, love them, and try to steer them in the right direction. We hope that the things we did right outweigh the things we did wrong. But eventually we have to turn them over to the adults they choose to become.
Commentators keep saying "No team has ever played in their home stadium for a National Championship." FALSE!
Miami won the 1983 Natty in the 1984 Orange Bowl against Nebraska. I know -- I WAS THERE!
Time for another weird thought. I was thinking how strange it is that the word, "garnish" has such diverse meanings. As a noun, it is decoration on a food plate. As a verb, it is a legal claim against money held by a bank, employer or other third party.
Any others?
It sucks when Thanksgiving gets ruined by arguments. I spent 3 days prepping and cooking, only to have one of my sons blow up about something stupid and walk out. Then another son refused to eat.
I'm just not going to cook next year.
My youngest son spent 4 years to get a Computer Science degree from a Tech university, but he hasn't found a job in 1.5 years. His life's on hold until he gets a job. Nobody's hiring new folks in that field.
He's decided to try a different field. Any suggestions? Not sales.
