Fire Contained to Detached Garage and Vehicle 🔥🚒

At 10:50 PM last night, CAL FIRE CZU and local partner agencies responded to reports of a residential structure fire on Wurr Road in Loma Mar.

Loma Mar volunteer firefighters on Engine 55 and Utility 55 were the first to arrive on scene, reporting a vehicle fire that had quickly extended into a detached garage.

CAL FIRE, San Mateo County Fire Engine 59 (Pescadero) and CAL FIRE Engine 1775 arrived soon after and the garage became fully engulfed.

Access proved to be the primary obstacle for responding crews. Due to a steep, narrow, and unpaved driveway, heavy fire apparatus were unable to reach the fire. Firefighters successfully established a long hose lay, manually deploying lines approximately 75 yards uphill from the road to begin the attack.

Firefighters quickly accounted for all residents.

Crews successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the primary residence and the wildland. The incident was declared under control within 40 minutes, with damage strictly limited to the detached garage and the initial vehicle.

This incident demonstrates the strength of mutual aid, with CAL FIRE, San Mateo County Fire, Coastside Fire, @LomaMarFD, @menlofire, @WoodsideFire_CA, @LaHondaFD, and @KingsMtnFire all responding.

🫧The Water Tender Group provided water to the incident, which includes WT 56 (Kings Mountain), WT 57 (La Honda), and WT 58 (CAL FIRE, San Mateo County Fire).

Special Recognition 🙌
A special "shout out" goes to the Loma Mar Fire Volunteers. Their intimate knowledge of the local terrain was instrumental. While units were still in transit, they provided critical intelligence regarding the best access routes and pre-identified water sources, allowing incoming engines to go to work immediately upon arrival. @sanmateoco

Today firefighters extinguished a house fire in La Honda and saved a dog in the process. They were called to the home on Fernwood Drive around 11am. Upon arrival they witnessed smoke coming from the home. Unfortunately there was major damage to the home but there were no reported injuries.
