A Republican state senator in Florida has introduced a bill that, if passed, would require bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, his cabinet or state legislators to register with the state. https://t.co/gKiLruCif8
Hmmm. I just had a bizarre experience, involving a global news organisation and a trillion dollar corporation. (I got caught in the middle, so... owch.)
It’s not the sort of experience the people involved usually talk about in public… so I think I’ll talk about it in public.

Breaking: Sheriff’s deputies are taking boxes from Civilian Oversight Commissioner Patty Giggin’s Los Angeles home, part of a sprawling investigation that includes Metro and Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. The COC has held a series of investigative hearings into alleged gangs in LASD.

Believe us yet?
The same day we found out that a Nebraska school shuttered their school newspaper for supporting and publishing LGBTQ voices, following the Pride month with the most hate crimes against pride events in at least a decade.
@kohenari Literally anything but a Tesla... And not just for the reasons you'd think. There are the obvious things like giving money to Musk, but there's also the fact that it uses a proprietary charging system that is incompatible with any long-term sustainable ev infrastructure system
@GovRicketts @JoeBiden We're going to ignore the fact that government spending or deficits don't cause inflation, the bill reduces the deficit...
Not that the party of "cut tax revenue and spend more money on killing people" actually cares about debt or deficits.
The stupidity is embarrassing
P.S. This doesn't make up for the fact that Dick Cheney enabled Trump's presidency, the rise of the far right, & the authoritarian structure that allowed him to do so much damage. Liz Cheney isn't much better, doing the bare minimum while defending what led us here isn't heroic.
The war criminal, and one of 7 men personally responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, isn't wrong... I guess...
Now if you'll excuse me I need to go wash my mouth out with soap for publicly agreeing with Dick Cheney
@SamuelMohr4@OWHnews Being a republic and being democratic aren't mutually exclusive, but that's just to obfuscate from the fact that you don't believe in democracy, isn't it?
On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for an attack on an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam.
As the attack developed, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else:
A massacre.
He decided to act. /1 🧵
@toottootchoo @sschneider299 @Patty4Nebraska Obergefell doesn't seem like it'll be the next under attack, the current activity seems to be targeting contraception.
But the word of people who blatantly lied about their respect for precedent they don't like is a good enough reason to ignore an erosion of basic rights
@toottootchoo @sschneider299 @Patty4Nebraska It doesn't matter if Texas chooses to recognize it. States are constitutionally bound to recognize marriages in other states.
It is a major issue. Dobbs overturns the foundation that Obergefell is based on, and falls victim to the same absurd logic used in Dobbs.
@toottootchoo@Patty4Nebraska A fundamental right of equality is not an issue for the states to decide. Saying that states should be able to choose what rights to recognize, and what rights to ignore, is a violation of everyone's rights.
