Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky announce a new AI-powered biotech venture that uses living human skin tissue to help discover better skincare ingredients.
The company, Outer Biosciences, says it can keep donated human skin alive in the lab for weeks, allowing researchers to safely test thousands of compounds on real human tissue instead of relying on animal testing or computer simulations. The results are then used to train AI models to predict which ingredients are most likely to be safe and effective before they reach human trials.
TechCrunch reports that the startup has been operating quietly for several years and says this approach could significantly speed up the discovery of new treatments and skincare ingredients.

Akon says he risked his label on Lady Gaga by giving her “Just Dance” instead of the Pussycat Dolls
“Lady Gaga was already at Interscope when I got there. She was an artist there. But at the time, I don’t know what Interscope was going to do with her because she was there for a minute. She walks in with these all gold leotards and stuff, looking like she’s from the ’80s. And I was like, ‘Damn.’ She was already different. Then after speaking with her and talking to her, I’m like this bitch is mad talented. So we write the record. She goes in to demo the song out. I’m looking like, ‘Yo, this bitch is a star’”
“She comes out. I was like, ‘What’s the situation.’ She’s like, ‘Well, I’m at Interscope. I’m not quite sure.’ I said, ‘Okay, give me a second.’ So I called Jimmy. I said, ‘What’s up with this Lady Gaga chick?’ He’s like, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘I think I want to sign her.’ He said, ‘Take her.’ I said, ‘I could have her?’ He said, ‘Yeah, she’s all yours.’ Then, mind you, we’ve got a smash-hit record. I said, ‘Yo, Jimmy, we’ve got the record.’ I’m going back in. He’s thinking we’re playing the record for the Pussycat Dolls, but at that point, when he told me I could have Gaga, I’m like we working on her album”
“We go in there, and we’re playing this record, ‘Just Dance.’ He’s going crazy. He’s like, ‘Oh my God, this is it. We got the fucking one. We got it.’ The whole time, he’s thinking this record is the perfect record for the Pussycat Dolls. The music stops. He said, ‘Thank you man. The Pussycat Dolls are going to love this record.’ I said, ‘Jimmy, this record is for Gaga.’ He said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Yes, it’s for Gaga.’ He said, ‘Okay, make me understand this.’ I said, ‘Jimmy, listen. The Pussycat Dolls are already a global smash art. They’re a piece of art. All they need is one record. I’ll make a million of them. I’ll make another one for them”
“He said, ‘It’s not good enough.’ I said, ‘Listen to this record again one more time.’ We played the record. I said, ‘This record will make you another Pussycat Doll, or possibly even bigger. This is a record that breaks a new artist, not keeps a new artist popping.’ He thought about it. He said, ‘Would you put your label on that?’ I said, ‘Yeah. If this record doesn’t work, you can drop me.’ And you let me go with it. That was probably the best decision we collectively made together”

In an interview with Collider, Andrew Watt spoke about making the Emmy-nominated “The Dead Dance” with Lady Gaga:
“We had a lot of fun making her entire album [‘MAYHEM’] together. The thing about working with Gaga is she is such an amazing leader. So she comes up with these concepts and these songs and these melodies and these worlds and these ideals with such an incredible imagination. And so when it came time to do that song, we were really just following her lead and trying to support her, making the best music to go around with the concept of doing the dead dance, you know?”
Lady Gaga has won a court ruling dismissing a lawsuit that alleged MAYHEM infringed on the trademarks of a surf company that sells a brand of Mayhem surfboards, Billboard reports.
The judge found no evidence the album name was misleading or intended to confuse consumers, ruling that it is protected by the First Amendment.
18 years ago today, Lady Gaga released her debut album The Fame… and a star was born.
The Fame topped charts around the world, spawned four hit singles, won two Grammy Awards, and launched one of the most influential pop careers of all time.
Lady Gaga received 2 nominations at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards:
Best Dance - RUNWAY with Doechii
Best Art Direction - RUNWAY with Doechii (art director: Freyja Bardell)
Gaga is now a 55-time #VMAs nominee.
Andrew Watt talks about working with Lady Gaga on MAYHEM and ‘The Dead Dance’ as well as his reaction to their EMMY nomination:
“The thing about working with Gaga is she is such an amazing leader. So she comes up with these concepts and these songs and these melodies and these worlds and these ideals with such an incredible imagination.”
“[Receiving the Emmy nomination] is amazing. It's incredible. That whole process of doing work and creating together and laughing and hanging out and having fun. We did it for ourselves. We did it because we love music, and we were so into the art we were creating and seeing it recognized and, you know, wanting to be celebrated by our peers and, you know, especially the Emmys. We had a really great time at the Grammys this year and got to perform at the Grammys as well. That was amazing. It's incredible.
It's not why you do the work, but when it happens, it's incredible. And it's another chance to celebrate the art that we love.”
