Thank you, Dr. Commins, for continuing your work & sharing your knowledge with scientists, healthcare providers & the general public. I truly appreciate your professionalism & science based expertise!
I'm excited to announce the launch of my podcast, Questions People Ask, that answers timely questions in medicine, science and more. The first 2 episodes are everything you need to know about alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) for patients and healthcare providers.
Excited to finally get this one out in @Nature_NPJ! In the largest study of its kind to date, we used data from the @visible_health platform to answer a simple question: can we predict symptom fluctuations and crashes from both the physiological and

We are one person away from completing our sex and age matching for our MAESTRO study! One 56-65 year old male with long COVID who can come to MIT in person and this first chapter of MAESTRO will be complete!!!
In colon tissue of #Long Covid subjects, Spike positive regions revealed significant changes in the transcriptome.
Similar to tumor signaling and Crohn's disease gene expressions. Overall, chronic inflammation transcripts dominated these spike positive regions in LC samples.
What is persistent #SARS-CoV-2 Spike doing in gut tissue in situ?
In our new preprint, we used spatial transcriptomics, RNAscope, GeoMx DSP, and multiplex IF to investigate biopsies from #LongCOVID
The immune dysfunction happen on spike + regions of LC.

New study: COVID worsens the ability of red blood cells (RBCs) to generate energy for themselves.
In women, RBCs have a harder time releasing oxygen to the body's tissues; in men, RBCs have a harder time repairing and defending themselves.

@ImmunoFever I mean, the ultimate goal is to find the root cause and if it's an infection be able to treat it. Big question is why do some respond so well to treatment and others get sooo sick? How much are the leaky tissues contributing to vitamin, mineral, immune system imbalance?
Mikki Tal is one of the most open minded researchers I've ever met. She deeply listens to the chronically ill and she is seeking answers that will change their lives. I highly recommend you watch the Stratton lecture!
My Stratton lecture is available online. Get a sneak peek at the MAESTRO study interim analysis results and hear about what we can learn when we MEASURE absolutely everything! https://t.co/0ljh917hnz I go on at min. 23:33 and around min. 57 there's a Q&A with all the speakers.
🧵My thoughts on the Stratton Lecture:
Infection-associated chronic illness has a physical root cause. Mikki @ImmunoFever & her team have been acknowledging the complex symptoms, and researching the underlying causes of chronic illness for several years. https://t.co/GyepL8xt4c
Remember, NOTHING about treating patients w/ chronic illness is easy--it will never be a one-size-fits-all “cookie cutter” approach. Anyone who says differently is flat-out wrong!
The key is to keep an open mind & never give up hope. https://t.co/pdfYW5Adsv /End 🧵

As a result of leaky gut many patients have acquired vitamin deficiencies. What's helped my daughter is finding ways to absorb vitamins outside the gut. For example, sublingual, pure topical creams & adding vitamins/minerals to a foot bath.
@ImmunoFever I mean it! You have always thought outside the box. Always listened. It gives me & so many others hope. Keep doing what you're doing, Mikki!
I did a lot of thinking after watching the lecture and it made me realize why some of the things we did worked. I'll post a few of them...
