Imām Shu‘bah bin al-Ḥajjāj [d. 160 AH, raḥimahullāh] said:

خذوا العلم من المشهورين

"Take knowledge from the well-known [meaning the well-known scholars of sound creed]."

البرکة مع أکابرکم
"Goodness and blessing are with your elders."

Mustadrak al-Ḥākim [1/64, Ḥadīth 210, Ḥasan Isnād], Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān [Ḥadīth 559] and others.
