@esoteric_joke I saved this yesterday while scrolling instagram specifically because I wanted to have something cute to share here, should the need arise
There has to be a name for that 85-100% stretch of a great book, where all the buildup turns into payoff and you end up doing dumb stuff like reading it in the supermarket queue etc cos you can't put it down.
Incidentally that's where I'm at in my current read.
@Aliteraryshadow I’ve been using this summer for self-assigned “summer reading” in that I’m taking a break from my usuals, and instead reading exactly these types of books. Stuff I would/should have read in school, or other similar literary holes. And finding myself liking a good amount of them.
It's so weird to me that people will get on here and say "I don't beleive there's anyone who's actually read that author or book" and...I have?
And I'm not saying it's a big deal or a huge accomplishment. I'm just saying...I have
I was a kid who’d heard playground talk about the Alien movies and all the cool gross shit that happened in them. But I wasn’t allowed to watch since I was too young. So I read Alan Dean Foster’s novelizations for a total of 800-900 pages just to feel included.
