Another woman 'Talia' was 20 when she met the DJ at a student club night. She said he sexually assaulted her in his hotel room.

After that many more women came forwards. ‘Esther' first encountered Westwood when she was 14 describing him as a ‘predator’, herself as 'prey'. Another said she was 16 when the DJ began a ‘controlling' relationship with her. Both said the experiences left them feeling suicidal.

The earliest incident was in 1992 the most recent in 2017.

They hadn't spoken out previously because they felt that a man with that kind of power was ‘untouchable’ and as Black women they would not be believed.

The UK’s asylum system is rooted in the racism of colonialism and the ashes of Empire.

We must reckon with this if we are ever to build a system that actually protects, not punishes, refugees.

Yesterday MPs debated giving people seeking asylum the right to work. Politicians across the spectrum said it was time to #LiftTheBan.

When that happens, the Gov must listen.

Tory MPs abstained on the vote for now to give the Gov a chance to do just that.
