@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers Brother, watch the show. There's multiple conversations where the main characters are disgusted by her plan, and she doubled down. Edgar got a speech from MM. I agree the show isn't very subtle, but part of that is being very clear that bad people can do good things (Butcher.)
@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers Genuinely don't know how you could read "the heroes" as the 7 when talking about the narrative. I think my wording was clear enough to anyone using their brain.
@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers I legitimately don't know how you think the show wants us to believe they're good guys. Sage immediately dips when offered the chance to help fight Homelander, Ashley immediately tries to seize power. By your logic, Edgar also got a redemption arc because he got a happy ending.
@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers ... I don't think you read what I wrote. The evil acts they did weren't driven by self preservation, them helping the boys were. Sage only abandoned her plan when she wouldn't be the sole survivor. Ashley had just watched Homelander murder the president, she could be next.
@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers Like any "redemption" the narrative could grant Ashley was undercut by the ending she received. It's like a much worse version of Greg's arc from succession, where he betrays whoever to end up on top, but ultimately ends up with no real power. Alive yes, but not victorious/happy.
@CelestialImu@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers But she ultimately ended up losing. Sage survived because she fought for whatever side would end up with the best result for her, and her last moments on screen are being a surviving coward. We can hope that both of them face consequences under the Singer admin, but never know...
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers redeemed in her eyes. Did he earn it? No, but Annie tried to find the best in him. The audience can't judge by themselves whether he's redeemable or not, just as we couldn't for A-Train, it's their relationship to the heroes and their actions that makes the real difference
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers I agree it's silly, less so because it's hypocritical, more because it's overly simplistic. He would have to do more to redeem himself than A-Train because he did more, but part of that would be earning forgiveness from his victim. She forgives him, which means he could be...
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers I'm 100% with you here (Sorry for going into essay mode, I just finished finals so that's the mindset I'm in.) I love the role Deep plays in the story (I think he's one of the best things about season 5) because he's evil, he's one of the most entertaining characters.
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers Ultimately, both Hughie and Annie give their rivals chances to redeem themselves, but only one arc has any resemblance to redemption throughout the series, which is why he's more redeemable. I'm sorry for the spam, it's a genuinely interesting topic to me, and I'm almost done.
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers A-Train's manslaughter creates an antagonistic relationship with Hughie, but that relationship changes and A-Train shows some level of remorse (partially due to self-interest and preservation.) Unlike Deep and Annie, their arc revolves around forgiveness and growth by Hughie
@gehteuch33314@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers The deep is a murderer and a rapist who shows no remorse. A-train is still a murderer and a bad person, but not a rapist. IDK why I have to tell you that rape is bad, but I'm concerned for the women in your proximity
These are international civilians, innocent of any crime, who have been illegally abducted in international waters by Israel. That’s what we’re looking at here.
It’s not my “chosen name”.. it’s just my name
They’re not my “preferred pronouns”.. they’re just my pronouns
I don’t “identify as a woman”.. I just am a woman
@Maxiking_45@LeQGdesSupers Murder requires premeditation, the killing of Robin was manslaughter due to gross negligence. As far as "coercion," the word you're looking for is rape. The killing of Robin was still wrong, but lacked intention.
