To clear up my stance: The community note is wrong. The racist undertones of TLM’s Int’l box office are real. Some White and what I’ll call ‘Whiteness subscribing’ audiences have bought into the idea of Ariel’s Whiteness so deeply that they cannot stand a Black actor playing her.
