@TomD80106675@arenty_@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe A man who blocks others admits defeat so if you want to block then feel free. But you going on and on when the call was right and there is a rule for a reason is just pure nonsense whining
@arenty_@TomD80106675@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe No you aren’t because a hard tag isn’t going to push a runner off the path. A hard tag is also slower than a swipe so by the time the hard tag happens the body would be fully on the bag. It wouldn’t happen so sure you can say that but it wouldn’t ever take place
@arenty_@TomD80106675@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe Because the umpires can deem intent to throw a runner off the path and give them the base. A standard tag play is not intent to throw a runner off the path. Maybe actually understand the game
@arenty_@TomD80106675@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe If that was the case then every tag ever would be causing runners to lose contact with the bag but that’s just not true. PCA has a history of over sliding due to his aggressiveness
@jro_27@BobNapoleon@GrantRahn As said previously you can’t obstruct if you have the ball! And it wasn’t an illegal impede. How could you tweak that rule
@jro_27@BobNapoleon@GrantRahn His path wasn’t obstructed, his hand got on the bag just fine! Obstructed means “blocked, hindered or impeded by an obstacle” if he was blocked then how did he touch the bag?
@jro_27@BobNapoleon@GrantRahn But you can’t tweak the rule to be obstruction when he wasn’t even obstructed to begin with. He had a clear path to the bag??
@arenty_@TomD80106675@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe No it wasn’t, the tag did not push his hand to come off the bag. He easily could have stayed on the bag with a proper slide. No one’s fault but PCA’s. Even Counsell agreed with the rule, they said the umpires interpreted correctly. It is a dumb rule but until changed it’s right
@arenty_@TomD80106675@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe And he was awarded second base. He wasn’t called out on the original tag. Once he tagged second the “protection” is now gone and if he disengages the bag and is tagged out then it’s the right call. He should have peeked in and seen the pitch and not even slid in reality
@Fullboat101@jro_27@BobNapoleon@GrantRahn If he held up then it wouldn’t have been an issue. There have been many instances of runners being thrown out before and the tag was negated due to ball 4 but they stayed on the bag. All you have to do is not disengage from the base
@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe Until the rule is changed it’s the right call. You can call for the rule to be updated but it’s the right call and even your own manager agreed with it.
@Rick_Weinberg@TomD80106675@johnrabe I am not a Mets fan and no it wouldn’t because when it’s the right call I don’t care who it’s against. You won and yet are still whining about it
@BlackCoffeeSobr@Rick_Weinberg@johnrabe You can make any argument you want but by the course of the current rule it’s the right call so just get over it and move on
