I’d put the line at 91 for a player with a 15 course handicap.
I’d put the line at 110 for a player with a 15 INDEX.
This assumes a difficulty adjusted course rating of 81.5 and a slope of 155.
Using that rating/slope assumption a 2.6 index gets a course handicap of 15…
… and a 15 index gets a course handicap of 32.
@brianhgibson Trent from foreplay shot 104 at Oakmont last year in US Open conditions. Played it from the tips - 7500 yards.
Entire round on YouTube. Go watch it.
He was maybe a 16-17 index at the time?
Oakmont isn't exactly easy...
@LaneCalder11 Francis Ellis, who is around a 4 index, shot 91 from the tips (7500 yards) at Oakmont in US Open conditions last year when Foreplay played there. Entire round on video. Made a 9 on a par 5. Go watch it on YouTube...
What? I thought pros hit 6 irons 220+ and had no ability to hit different shots other than full shots?
This video of Rory flighting a 6 iron from 155 yards must be fake.
Nobody on the pga tour carries it 325 as a baseline.
Last year 17 players on the pga tour had an average carry over 300 with the longest being 315.0 (Rory was second at 309.6)
So far this year there are 15 players over 300 carry with the longest 314.9 (2nd place is 307.3)
2024 had 14 players with 300+ average carry.
@APepperWWMT Cool, does this mean every time moving forward a player hits a 370+ yard drive and someone posts about how stupidly long the ball goes that we get to point out it was downhill, downwind, and ran 60+ yards on firm fairways?
Rory gets 177mph ball speed on his first swing with a driver that has a head smaller than the golf ball.
People think PGA tour players are not ripping at it with a smaller headed driver are delusional.
They are very very very good at hitting the center of the face.
Played 9 holes tonight and afterwards did my first serious speed training session since early 2023 (before I injured my ankle).
I was warm and loose and I did 5 swings easing into the session, and then ripped at it pretty good for 10 swings. Normally I do 20 swings when I speed train, but I don't want to do too much too soon.
I was VERY happy with these numbers. I lost so much speed after my ankle injury 3 years ago, and then my shoulder injury last year.
I've been working really hard on strength and mobility (with a trainer from @par4success).
My goal is to get these speed training sessions averaging around 120-122 club head speed so I can comfortably game 112-114 on the course.
That 113 was the last swing of the session and I hit that one pretty flush and it was the best tee shot I have felt in over 3 years! 😃
