Let me remind everyone of this Jiyong story again! Tell me how you’re supposed to know this and not love this man😭💞

In 2011, G-DRAGON became the first K-pop idol to publicly announce that he would no longer accept birthday gifts from fans. This is the letter he wrote at the time 🥹 He expressed his love for his fans and asked them to use that love for something more meaningful instead.

Inspired by his words, fans donated 20 million won to Seoul National University Children’s Hospital in honor of his birthday, August 18. The donation was used to help children suffering from rare diseases, congenital heart conditions, and other illnesses.

Touched by what his fans had done, Jiyong himself also donated 50 million won to the same hospital in 2011.

The following year, in 2012, he quietly donated another 50 million won to the hospital.

That 2012 donation wasn’t publicly known at the time and was only reported years later, in 2017. YG explained that because it was a personal donation, it hadn’t been made public, and Jiyong himself had wanted to avoid drawing attention to it.

Then in 2013, in honor of Jiyong’s birthday, August 18, fans donated 8.18 million won. Jiyong added another zero and donated 81.8 million won to the Seungil Hope Foundation.

Instead of receiving birthday gifts for himself, he asked fans to turn their love into something that could help others. His words inspired his fans to donate, and he continued giving alongside them himself.

From back then to this very day, Jiyong has never changed. He’s still just as humble and warm-hearted as he’s always been 🥹🤍
