A BETRAYAL OF JUSTICE;
-Standing with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Nigerian Women
As Chairman of the Lagos State Labour Party, I speak with a mix of outrage and sorrow at the grievous injustice unfolding in our National Assembly. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a voice courageously alleging sexual harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has been suspended for six months—not for her accusations to be investigated, but for daring to speak them. The Ethics Committee dismissed her petition on procedural technicalities, then punished her for “ridiculing” the Senate. This is not justice; it is a grotesque perversion of it.
If a sitting senator—one of only four women in a chamber of 109—can be silenced, suspended, and barred from her office for seeking accountability, what does this mean for ordinary Nigerian women? The market trader harassed by police, the student preyed upon by lecturers, the domestic worker abused with no platform to scream?
The Senate’s actions scream a chilling truth: our institutions protect power, not people. By sidelining Senator Uduaghan, they have exposed the systemic misogyny that silences women and emboldens predators.
To the members who voted for this suspension: we see your complicity. We recognize the pressures of loyalty and fear, but history will not forgive the choice to weaponize procedure against progress.
Reducing female representation from four to three senators in a nation where women endure daily indignities is not just hypocrisy—it is an assault on democracy itself.
Myself and the entire state working committee of the Labour party Lagos State, stand unwaveringly with Senator Uduaghan and her vow to continue her “pursuit for justice.” Her suspension is not merely political; it is a symbol of the oppression faced by every woman gaslit into silence.
To the public, we say: demand better.
To institutions, we say: investigate transparently.
To those in power, we say: your legacy will be defined by whether you uphold equity or entrench injustice.
The Labour Party Lagos State condemns this blatant disregard for accountability and gender equality. We call on all Nigerians to reject a system that punishes the victim and protects the powerful.
We must all lend our voices to this injustice.
We must create a system, one where no woman, whether senator or student, is silenced again.
Forward Ever

It is very important to make mention, that Hon Atta Achief also extended his benevolence to all the Local governments in Lagos State, by giving out Bags of rice to the LP Local Government Chairmen.
Kudos to Honourable Attah!
More Grace and strength to him as he keeps up the good work.
God Bless Eti-Osa Federal Constituency!

This is always a hopeful time, as we celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another. And while 2024 was difficult for many Nigerians, we must also remain hopeful and optimistic that brighter days are ahead of us – that although our challenges are great, Nigerians have the courage and determination to rise up and meet them.
It is that spirit that has kept the Nigerian Dream alive for generations, and it is that spirit that will keep it alive for generations to come.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful 2025. I'm so grateful for each one of you, and I can't wait to see what this new year brings for us! As we say goodbye to 2024, I just want to remind you all how much I love you.
Pastor Dr Dayo Ekong
Chairman Labour Party Lagos State
Through my community development initiative, I will continue to put smiles on the faces of residents of the Eti-Osa Local government.
My Team popularly called "Team Smile", again delivered household items to various communities in Eti-osa.
I represented the Labour Party National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure, at the Interparty Advisory Council, IPAC's event which is being held from the 17th to 19th of December.
The program is being held at BON hotel GRA Ikeja in participation with Westminster foundation for democracy.
The program is basically to review the code of conduct for IPAC for it to be more inclusive to women, youths and people living with disabilities.
As families across Nigeria grapple with the harsh realities of an increasingly unbearable economic downturn, it has become painfully obvious that the mismanagement of our economy, under the leadership of the APC-led government, has pushed the nation into deeper hardship.
The promise of a brighter tomorrow has remained nothing more than hollow rhetoric, as inconsistent economic policies, coupled with entrenched systemic corruption in federal institutions, have plunged millions into suffering.
This year’s Christmas season highlights the grim realities of a country reeling from inflation rates that are understated by government agencies and their media mouthpieces. The inflation figures we see being presented in the media do not match the suffering of Nigerians at the marketplace, in their kitchens, or at the filling stations.
The true inflation rate, much higher than what is officially reported, has crippled the purchasing power of hardworking citizens, leaving families unable to afford basic necessities during what should be a joyous season.
It is disheartening that while Nigerians tighten their belts, unable to put food on their tables or fuel in their vehicles, politicians continue to enjoy exorbitant allowances and benefits. Even after leaving office, these same leaders allocate to themselves pensions and perks so extravagant that they are an insult to the everyday Nigerian.
Where is the equity in a system that rewards those who fail the people while offering no social safety nets to protect its citizens from poverty and despair?
The Labour Party stands in solidarity with millions of Nigerians who bear the brunt of this economic crisis.
We recognize the plight of the working class, the traders, the small business owners, and the unemployed youths who struggle to make ends meet in the face of dwindling opportunities and rising costs.
Amidst this suffering, we continue to witness a disturbing trend—some individuals, driven by poverty or ignorance, shamelessly defend the very politicians who have impoverished them.
Let us speak plainly: a political office holders who steals ₦10 billion and shares a meagre ₦100 million to buy loyalty does not care about the people.
Those who celebrate the crumbs thrown at them while their futures are mortgaged must wake up to this reality.
The deliberate use of poverty to manipulate the masses is one of the greatest injustices perpetuated by the political elite.
While the elite live lavishly on public resources, the majority are left to suffer in silence or cheer for their own exploitation.
This Christmas, as families face empty pots and unpaid bills, we must collectively reflect on the choices we have made and the leadership we have tolerated.
The Labour Party offers a clear alternative: a people-oriented government that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians, invests in social safety nets, and champions transparency in governance.
We believe that wealth must be created and shared fairly, not hoarded by a select few.
To those who feel despair, know that the cycle of suffering can be broken.
To those who defend the indefensible, remember that a better Nigeria is possible—a Nigeria where your dignity and well-being are placed above political games.
Let us unite, demand accountability, and work together to build a country that works for the many, not just the privileged few.
This Christmas may be bleak, but it does not have to be the norm.
Change is possible, and together, we can achieve it.

"NEC also approved the restructuring of the Directorate of Mobilization and Integration. The party applauded the instant success achieved by this directorate less than six months after its inauguration. NEC urged the directorate under the leadership of Dr. Mercel Ngogbehei and secretaryship, Shiek Rufai Al-Sadique to intensify efforts in opening up the party to all cadre of Nigerian populace to ensure massive membership.
"NEC also approved the creation of Directorate of International and Diaspora Affairs. The new directorate will be headed by Prof. Eddie Oparaoji while Ms Aju Elumelu is appointed as the Secretary of the directorate. NEC also directed that various committees which include Electoral Reform Committee, Political Education Committee and State Elders Council be inaugurated with immediate effect.
Speaking on the need for creation of the Electoral Reform Committee, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure said, "we note that the Labour Party is a major victim in the 2023 general election and will therefore pursue electoral reform in Nigeria.
"And for us to have credible, proactive leaders that will work in the interest of the people, the processes leading to the selection of these candidates must be credible, fair and transparent.
"To this extent, Labour Party is poised to pursue a holistic electoral reforms in Nigeria. The Committee must take cognizance of all our laws and institutions and therefore make recommendations to the party. The recommendations will form the basis of our future engagement with the electorate and all institutions in Nigeria, having roles to play in election matters. This Committee will be Chaired by Hon. Benedict Etanabene while Hon. Okey Joe will be the Co Chair. Dudu Manuga will act as Secretary. The Committee has 8 weeks to submit its report.
On political education committee, Bar Abure said, "Before and during the 2023 general election, we had this understanding that leadership alone was the major challenge of this country. Events have reshaped this understanding to mean that followership is as guilty as the leadership. This indeed has reinforced the philosophy that defines leadership as a reflection of the people. Consequently, we need to mind the mind of our followers and members. There is therefore the need to reorient the people and for the people to begin to change their attitude and behaviors. There is also the need for the people to be the catalyst for growth and development.
"To this extent, Labour Party will constantly invest in political education. This underscores the importance of having a virile, strong and articulate political education committee that will assist the party in mobilizing and conscientizing the people and prepare them for citizens engagement in the country.
"We have therefore appointed Rt Hon Ativie Elizabeth, former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly as the Chairman and Mr. Bulus Maisamari as the Secretary of the Education Committee respectively. Other members of this committee will be announced in due course.
"We are therefore determined to reposition our Labour Party and to make it the biggest political brand in readiness for future political engagements. Nigeria has remained in the doldrums for too long and we are poised to rescue the nation."
