Gave Germany the right to murder civillians (many documented cases)? Mobilization also doesn't equal invasion, it means preparing troops in your own area. Attacking west isn't defending east.

Germany was not forced to an unconditional surrender. 20 years later we got an even more brutal WW2. Unconditional surrender deprives your enemy from commiting future conflicts for a long long time.

Also, the Soviets had no interest in negotiating for Japan, they wanted revenge for their losses to Japan earlier in the century.
