Happy to be one of the first 'Veteran Aware' mental health trusts in the UK. This is our commitment to support Veterans with mental health problems in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
LPT is proud to be confirmed as one of the first 'Veteran Aware' mental health trusts in the UK, confirming our commitment to Armed Forces veterans as well as serving personnel, reservists and their families. Full details in our media release https://t.co/Hu2yogjO4U
@NHS Thank you for sending out the correct message. The Forces Family should not be disadvantaged to accessing services if they are re-settling to another part of the Country @LPTnhs
All veterans are entitled to priority access to NHS care (including hospital, primary or community care) for conditions associated with their time within the armed forces (service-related). https://t.co/ngSxVeceLH
Our new 'Reservists in the NHS: Find us, support us, use us' video showcases the real experiences of reservists that work within the NHS and the benefits that their #ArmedForces experience has for employers. Watch it here https://t.co/eD7PEvHGvY #MilitaryMarch
@JukesJo@BrumLeader Charnwood Borough Council in leicestershire has a dedicated Covenant Rep funded by the Covenant. May be worth having a chat to them to see how the post was established and what they do. I am a dedicated Veterans lead on mental health for my NHS Trust. Good luck.
@LPTnhs do you know it takes an average of 4 years for a Veteran to ask for help with psychological wounds #CutTheClock. Time to cut the clock on mental health being a stigma in the Veterans Community @CutTheClock.
Veterans are not entitled to priority treatment unless their clinical need is greater, and is a service related injury. @VeteransGateway need to understand this as it is misleading and confusing.
Veterans are entitled to priority NHS care for service related conditions. Don't suffer over Xmas. Click here to find out how you can access support across the UK. https://t.co/QhZQOVKhzA
@VeteransGateway This is subject to clinical need, if the injury is service related. It can mislead the Forces Family who read they are entitled to priority treatment and create frustration.
Emotional MP reads out a letter from the wife of a serviceman who is suffering with Mental Illness. These are not isolated cases and they must be going on within @LPTnhs.
@Rubywax How could I and a friend work with you to set up a Frazzled Cafe in Leicester. We both work in mental illness and have on going mental health issues. Would really like to further raise awareness that it is okay to talk.
@Mr_PaulWatson @JohnnyMercerUK@Tobias_Ellwood In law - you cannot transfer a duty of care from the MOD to the NHS, for example, as the latter cannot breach a duty of care it does not owe. Certainly no actual causal connection or proximate cause.
@KirkBarlow5@PoppyLegion 96 Soldiers were 'shot at dawn' during WW1. 50 Veterans have committed suicide this year so far. Is the cure save the bullets and let them do it themselves?
@BPSOfficial@HaloBrigade Good to see new modules, except levels of PTSD are not the same as civilian population. It is 6% if not more, as not picked up in General Practice. No mention of NHS Services. Need to update modules and look at the maths as 83%+27% is not 100%.
If you know of any Veterans with housing issues across @LPTnhs please refer them to the specialist Housing Unit within the @VeteransGateway, where specialist advisors are waiting to assist.

@Matthew__Green@SueMcAngel I agree. The number of Veterans I work with on our mental health wards were not diagnosed before discharge from HM military service. Its when they hit 'crisis' do they enter into our services.
