@bellumjustum@horsewithnonick@BaegulTheDwarf@JTAlexander@memeticsisyphus Probably even worse per capita. But I also suspect (with zero evidence - just a hunch) that most lynchings, both black and white, were in the south where the demographics were closer. I'm not arguing it either way though.
@F3deralFarmer@_Credible_Hulk As usual, this is the answer. It's really annoying that people do things like compare the US (population 345million) to Switzerland (pop. 9 million) like there aren't some extremely obvious demographic differences.
@LynAldenContact@jameslavish This. Great company, I love what they're doing. 10 years ago I'm buying as much as I can. But I have no interest right now because it (and a lot of companies, frankly) are massively over-valued at the moment. Great company doesn't necessarily mean great investment.
@TRHLofficial Gas is actually not expensive at all if you adjust for inflation (CPI) (and it's barely historically expensive before adjustment).
Gas gets cheap mostly in recessions.

@redacted_j@end3of6days9 Yeah, this sounds made up. I got one and when I asked my doctor was like "You have several kids? You're done? We can do it in 3 weeks. Here's a pill to take 30 minutes before, you'll be sore for a couple days." No one is trying to get a guy with 4 kids not get a vasectomy.
"Hereโs a reminder that civility, decency, and humility are not weaknesses in a democracy, they are strengths."
~Cory Booker opining on civility 2 months ago.
@hugo_rune3791@wil_da_beast630 And yes, I know the number killed is likely many more. It just seems a bit odd to raise the BLM riots to the level of a race massacre from 100 years ago.
@hugo_rune3791@wil_da_beast630 So... the BLM riots are equivalent to the Tulsa massacre? Is that the comparison we are making here? The official count on Tulsa BTW is 36: 26 black, 10 white.
@cosmepolitics Hold up. So she's mad at Dems. So far so good. But she 100% went all in on Harris, and is mad about not nearly enough focus on Jan 6 prosecutions? I mean, she's identified the problem (Dem leadership) but is WAY off on where they messed up.
@NerdHerder9001@BennyRocinante@JennMGreenberg@edwarddelgadojr I know some of the original post had stronger forms of punishment, but at least in my view kids became "untouchable" and parents sided with their kids against teachers. And that's not a tenable situation either. We (society) gave kids far too much power between teacher-student.
@NerdHerder9001@BennyRocinante@JennMGreenberg@edwarddelgadojr I'm not advocating for corporal punishment (and I don't use it), but the current state of things is that anyone touching a kid is essentially risking getting fired, which is outrageous and too far. A teacher should be able to chuck a pen at a kid (which is just mild shaming).
