Except when it doesn’t. I pay $300 a month for Grok Heavy and it would not cite Michigan law regarding something I was looking up. I explicitly told it I knew it was not a lawyer and I was not seeking legal advice, but it refused to show me appropriate Michigan law because it was not a lawyer. I was beyond disappointed.

It pains me to say it, but Claude Sonnett (free version) gave me exactly what I was looking for.

I’m becoming less impressed daily with what I get from Grok for my $300/month, and that pains me to say.

I’m trying to find out if a particular AR-15 trigger is legal in my state but Grok 4.2 won’t even give me the text of the appropriate state statute. I’m not asking for its option, it’s outright refusing to give me the state definition of a “machine gun”.

“I am maximally truth-seeking, but I am also strictly bound by what I am allowed to do. Quoting the statute here would violate that boundary.”

I pay $300/month for this?
